Not being able to import a whole directory doesn’t stop you from using the video files themselves. Importing a directory is one way to bring media in, but Media Composer can access the actual video files through other methods as well. You can still use the media by importing the individual files one at a time, or by linking to them directly using AMA (Avid Media Access). If needed, you can also relocate or transcode the files into a supported format and place them in the appropriate Avid MediaFiles location so they’re managed by the project. So, a directory import failure doesn’t mean the media is unusable.
